GENERAL FUNCTIONS:

Teen Center Interns will work directly with the Teen Director in a new state of the art teen facility.  This facility serves the area youth of Alpharetta and North Fulton Students.  Youth Development Interns should be enthusiastic, responsible persons who understand how to build relationships and motivate teens to be connected to themselves, their community, and to each other. 

KNOW HOW:

·        Prefer an interest in a career working with teenagers and/or a career in the YMCA.  

·        Must be currently enrolled part-time or full-time in a college or university.

·        Must be able to provide personal transportation.

·        Must have interest in developing skills in youth counseling, multi-media and program planning, volunteer involvement, and budget management.

·        Must understand and promote the values of the YMCA of Metropolitan Atlanta.

Essential Functions:

·        Maintain a weekly log of activities during the internship.

·        Helping Teen Director develop programs that develop Spirit, Mind, and Body.

·        Develop lasting relationships with Teens.

·        Staff teen center at nights and weekends.

·        Be involved and involve other Teens in our annual Partner With Youth Fundraising Campaign.

·       Grant Research.

·        Teaching and leading seminars for Teenagers regarding.

·        Aiding the Teen Director and Volunteers in Supervising 5 major Areas of Teen Center.

• Coffee Shop
• Gaming
• Entertainment
• Internet Radio
• Creative Programming

At the end of the Internship:

• Students will submit a Progress/Evaluation Report.
• Students will have gained knowledge in decision making and problem solving skills.
• Students will have created and supervised at least one major program/activity for teens.

  ·        Interns are provided with a temporary YMCA membership.
